Sea Power to Protect and Promote

The United States Navy started as a small fleet with two vessels during the American Revolution to keep the British from becoming the largest, most advanced force the world has ever known. On October 13, we mark the day the United States Navy was established. The commitment and sacrifices that countless of individuals have made are undeniable. We are here to thank the brave men and women who are deployed worldwide for their service. Their long deployments away from family and friends don’t go unnoticed and are appreciated!

After 243 years, the “Semper Fortis” motto still holds strong. The always courageous active personnel are comprised of more than 300,000 worldwide with another 100,000 in the Navy Reserve ready for any mission. They conduct a wide range of combat, humanitarian, and rescue missions that help shape the construct of our world today. With over 70% of the world covered by water and most of the world’s trade conducted on the seas, it is crucial to have a strong support system. The pride and professionalism our Sailors exhibit everyday makes our global presence known.

The United States security and interest are always at the heart of any mission. Adversaries are becoming more advanced in their tactics and our interests are being challenged every day from the Western Pacific, Mediterranean and Indian Ocean. Our continued commitment to uphold freedom on the seas will not flinch, along with promoting our values of freedom and liberty. The United States Navy will continue to thrive and maintain our maritime superiority.

"A good Navy is not a provocation to war. It is the surest guaranty of peace." - Theodore Roosevelt
